Cape Home, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, is nearing completion.
We don’t often share work before completion, but this project has reached a point where the quality of the build, material resolution and craftsmanship deserves to be seen.
Rammed earth gives the architecture its weight and permanence, set against a series of more precise, handcrafted elements. Hand-finished stainless steel doors rise 3.5 metres high, while a sculptural door pull, made from salvaged Moonah, brings another scale of material expression and making.
It is this relationship between mass and refinement, robustness and delicacy, that has shaped the project throughout.
Not long to go. We’re looking forward to seeing the final pieces come together—and to photographing the completed house soon.
