Job Description:
We are an established civils and utilities contractor operating across the South West, delivering works on long-term utility frameworks across clean water, wastewater, and gas.
Due to a significant increase in secured workload, particularly on the water utilities side, we are looking to recruit experienced Operatives and Gangers to join our teams on full-time, long-term contracts.

Current roles available:
Clean water works including mains pipe laying, leakage and metering
General civils and associated utility works
R&M and minor works on the wastewater
Working on long-term, stable utility frameworks (not short-term projects)
Operating as part of structured site teams
Reading drawings and working to RAMS

We recently completed a gas reinforcement link installation between two existing gas mains, helping to increase and maintain gas supply to both new residential developments and existing properties in the area.

The scheme was delivered along a busy suburban route, requiring careful planning, close coordination and a strong focus on safety and minimising disruption.

Scope of Works:
-Open-cut excavation through highway and verge locations
-Installation of new PE gas main
-Extensive service avoidance works
-Use of vacuum excavation in high-risk areas
-Full backfill and reinstatement

Planning & Site Setup:
Ahead of construction, our project team coordinated highway notices, traffic management, welfare facilities and segregation barriers to ensure the site was safely set up before works commenced.

Daily site inductions were carried out for all operatives, subcontractors and visitors, ensuring everyone was briefed on the planned activities, movements and site-specific risks.

Excavation & Service Avoidance:
During excavation, the team successfully worked around a high volume of existing underground services using a combination of traditional excavation techniques and vacuum excavation.

Vacuum excavation was strategically programmed in areas with clustered services, including high-voltage apparatus, allowing works to progress safely without impacting the overall programme.

Welding & Installation:
As excavation progressed, our in-house welding team carried out pipe jointing operations, maintaining momentum across the scheme and ensuring quality control throughout the installation.

The Result:
-Safe installation of a critical gas network reinforcement link.
-Minimal disruption to residents and road users.
-Project delivered within programme and to client satisfaction.

This project demonstrates our ability to deliver complex gas and utility works in constrained urban environments through effective planning, skilled teams and strong collaboration.
