JOLIMONT // After months of excavating through high-strength sandstone to reach the lower basement level, progress at Jolimont is now moving rapidly upward, with precast concrete columns and panels beginning to be lifted into place.

The basement works were particularly complex, requiring a hydrostatic basement slab design at the lower basement level, along with a meticulous waterproofing specification in response to the long-term groundwater table predictions provided by the project geotechnical consultant.

COLAC// Site inspection today as part of a feasability study to repurpose an old laundry building in Colac. Despite its weathered appearance, the structural integrity of the building has stood the test of time, with thoughtful alerations and repairs we beleive there is great potential for this building in its next chapter.

FITZROY// Scaffold is down on our mixed use development in North Fitrzoy, which is nearing completion on site. Internally propping the heritage facade whilst integrating permanent works was a tricky design aspect of this project. This took lots of time and drawings to work through the different stages of the project to understand the integration of temporary and permanent works.

SITE VISIT // A visit to our new project that has begun to move on site. The residential development consists of the retention of a heritage facade, 3 level basement with 6 storey luxury apartment building above. After a lengthy design process, we are very excited to see this one start coming together.

BASALT // Construction has begun on our new project in northcote, which involves a single level basement and pool at the rear of the site. Anybody who has worked in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne would be familiar with perils of the underlying high strength basalt rock. Rock coring has begun on the retention piles and upon inspection of the material we were able to redesign and reduce socket depth to only 1.5 m and remove 50% of retention piles.

DEMOLITION // Demolition is well underway on an alterations and additions project currently being undertaken on a beautiful heritage building in Kew. Working on old heritage buildings can often present many structural challenges. In this case, the junction between old and new has proved troublesom, as we have large spanning concrete suspended slabs abutting the existing dilapidated masonry and bluestone footings which creates a challenge of ensuring they are sufficiently integrated, but also to not apply large loads to the existing structure.
