What a great morning with GIFSA Esperance at the Cannery Arts Centre Forage garden. Looking forward to getting all the beds productive again 🌱

It’s very exciting that the Forage Community Garden at the Cannery Arts Centre received this funding for their Reactivation Project to bring new life into that beautiful space. I’ll be hosting some workshops later in the year, so keep an eye out for more info to come 😊

We’re supporting communities to connect with the environment and each other.

Through the Cook Labor Government’s Community Garden Grants program, we’re supporting an additional 35 organisations throughout WA to create or maintain community gardens in their area.

Congratulations to the Shire of Wagin, Bremer Bay Community Resource & Visitors Centre INC and Cannery Arts Centre for each receiving a Community Garden Grant.

Shire of Wagin received $10,000 to develop and maintain a new community garden in Wagin.

Bremer Bay Community Resource & Visitors Centre INC received $8,800 to develop a new community garden to support the people of Bremer Bay.

Cannery Arts Centre received $9,344 to fund the Forage community garden activation project, including the introduction of an open day once a fortnight during the school term. This open day will create a safe and inclusive space for seniors and school children to come together, socialise, and share knowledge about gardening. Additionally, several workshops will be hosted, catering to the general public, focusing on permaculture gardening principles.

It’s been a while and finally, here’s my follow up post to the jam melon grew. With over 7kg, the melon gave me plenty fruit to experiment with.
I made melon chutney (thanks to Lesley Harris for the recipe) and Jam in 3 flavors and got a few jars each:
Ginger Lime
Orange
Pineapple
While everything is delicious, the ginger lime jam is probably our favorite 😁
And to my surprise, I spotted another Jam melon amongst my pumpkins this morning. So I guess I’ll be making more Jam next week.

We harvested our first Jam Melon 😊 A few months ago I didn’t even know about this type. Now we need a recipe, so we can enjoy this beauty.

Has anyone used Jam melons before? What’s your favorite recipe?
