New blog post :) from a few weeks ago but worth a read

A honeybee (Apis mellifera) sips nectar from an aster in a butterfly garden.   We’ve been busy as bees this week, and so have the…well…bees. Its coming to the end of honey harvest season, and what a season it’s been, in total for our

Plant of the Month — February

Salvia leucantha (Mexican Bush Sage)

Late summer in Melbourne can feel dry, exposed and a little tired- but this is when Salvia leucantha begins to shine.

Soft silver foliage and velvety purple flower spikes emerge just as many spring perennials are slowing down, carrying colour and movement beautifully into autumn.

It’s resilient once established, thrives in full sun, and is consistently alive with bees at this time of year. In the right setting, it brings a relaxed softness that balances stronger architectural planting.

I particularly love using it in layered, meadow-inspired schemes or to soften structured edges, where its long flowering season adds rhythm without demanding attention.

A reminder that thoughtful plant selection isn’t just about what looks good in October - it’s about designing for the entire year.

not just on perfect days, but on ordinary ones too.

Thoughtful design creates spaces you return to, again and again.

A garden is a living system:
plants, soil, water, insects and people all shaping one another.

When those relationships are considered, gardens become resilient rather than fragile.

The most memorable gardens feel like they belong,
to their climate, their site, and the people who live with them.

That sense of belonging is always intentional.
