Not every creature flying around your garden at night is a pest!
Microbats are actually one of nature’s little pest controllers, helping keep insect numbers down around our homes and gardens.
These tiny native mammals can eat up to half their body weight in insects in a single night, including mosquitoes, flies, moths and other insects.
And despite their reputation, microbats are generally quiet, harmless and play an important role in our local ecosystem.
So if you spot a microbat around your Eltham home, remember that you may actually have a helpful backyard visitor!
⚠️ Microbats should never be handled with bare hands. If you find an injured bat or one that needs assistance, contact a qualified wildlife carer for advice.
At RodX Pest Control, we believe good pest management is also about knowing the difference between unwanted pests and valuable native wildlife.
Give the microbats a break — they might just be helping keep the mozzies away!
