YOU BLOODY BEAUTY… YOU DID IT.
Today we can officially announce that our Ultimate Landscape Package has SOLD for an incredible $38,500 in our MND auction..
And when we add that to the $9,282 raised through my personal Big Freeze fundraising campaign, our community has helped contribute a whopping $47,782 towards the local MND Big Freeze fundraiser.
$47,782. To Big Freeze Echuca / Moama
Take a moment and let that sink in.
Because that didn’t come from me as one person.
It didn’t come from just our business.
It didn’t come from one idea.
It came from YOU.
From every customer who bought our fundraiser plants
Every person who grabbed a bag of our fundraiser kindling.
Every family who supported our fundraisers, read my stories on socials
Popped in to the nurseries and donated and wished me luck on the slide.
Every supplier who dug deep and donated products, services and materials.
Every person who donated, shared a post, bought a raffle ticket or simply turned up and got behind the cause.
Together, we built something pretty special.
When I first got the call asking if I’d slide into a pool full of ice water, I set myself a personal fundraising target of $1,000
To be honest, I thought that should be ok, but my brain went into overdrive.. we must do more and raise more..
Yet by the time Big Freeze day arrived, through my personal fundraising campaign and with the incredible support of customers, staff, suppliers, friends and the wider Plantfarm community, we’d already raised $9,282.
I was blown away.
Then this community did what it always does.
It showed up.
Again.
And again.
And again.
When I thought let’s create the ultimate landscape package I hoped we could go bigger..
The Ultimate Landscape Package sold yesterday for $38,500 thanks to an incredibly generous winning bidder who I had the pleasure of speaking with yesterday.
What struck me most wasn’t the bid.
It was the humility.
Her first words weren’t about winning.
They were about helping.
Even if she hadn’t won, she wanted to contribute.
She even said I decided if I was t the highest bidder I was still going to employ all these business that had donated…
That’s what this campaign has been about from day one.
People helping people.
A massive thank you to the local businesses that made the Ultimate Landscape Package possible:

Without these businesses there is no package.
Without our customers there is no auction.
Without our community there is no result.
And while my name might have been one of the 18 sliders this was never about me.
This was about a community coming together for something bigger than itself.
A community that bought our plants.
Bought our kindling.
Shared our social media posts.
Supported our fundraisers.
Backed our local businesses.
And dug deep to help families affected by MND.
Every dollar raised tells a story.
A story of generosity.
A story of kindness.
A story of people choosing to help people.
And that’s what makes me proud.
Not the slide.
Not the stitches.
Not the fundraising total.
The fact that when our community was asked to help, it answered.
In a big way.
Today we get to hand over this auction amount to our local Big Freeze fundraiser.
And while I’m not about to spoil the big announcement on the final amount raised by the Echuca Moama Big Freeze, I can tell you this…
We should all be so bloody proud to have played a small part in what Naomi, Lisa and the help from Rich River Golf club team have achieved.
What started as an idea has become something much bigger.
A community event.
A movement.
A reason for people to come together and make a difference.
The amount raised across our region is something the entire community should be proud of.
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Thank you for supporting the fundraiser.
Thank you for supporting local business.
Thank you for supporting families living with MND.
Thank you for supporting the suppliers who dug deep and said yes when I asked for help.
And thank you for proving once again what can happen when a regional community comes together behind something bigger than itself.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a finger pointing in a direction fingers probably shouldn’t point, a few stitches, and a reminder that agreeing to be blindfolded before launching head first down an ice slide may not have been my greatest life decision.
Worth it though.
Every single second.
