Winter is the time to get it sorted.

Most pools are sitting pretty quiet at this time of year, which makes it a smart chance to deal with the things that got put off over summer.

MYTH BUSTER MONDAY 💧

Myth: “If my pool cover is on, I don’t need to worry about my pool.”

Truth: A pool cover helps protect your pool, but it doesn’t replace regular pool care.

Through the cooler months, your cover can help reduce leaves, dust, debris and evaporation — which is very handy.

But the water underneath still needs a bit of attention.

If leaves, rainwater or dirt build up on top of the cover, they can make their way back into the pool when the cover is moved or removed. And if your pool water is left unchecked for too long, you can still end up with cloudy water, staining, algae or equipment issues when the warmer weather rolls around.

As a general guide, keep leaves and water off your cover, check your baskets, run your filtration as recommended, and keep up with regular water testing through winter.

The good news? A little care now can make spring opening much easier.
