Noticed the downpipe overflowing with water, as I was walking past on this gutter clean.
Pulled it apart and the bottom section was packed solid with mud. Lifted it off the drain and found a root system had taken hold and grown straight into the pipe, chasing the moisture underground.

Managed to clear the first section by hand, but the roots kept going into the next run of pipe that’s a job for a plumber now, not a gutter clean.

This is exactly why a regular gutter and downpipe check matters. Little blockages like this turn into much bigger (and more expensive) problems if they sit for too long.

Yesterday, I tackled this beautiful two-storey home for a client to get it ready for the market. I definitely had my work cut out for me with all those colonial windows, but I'm really happy with the excellent finished product. Grateful for the opportunity on this one! Plus, it was a nice change of pace from the usual garden maintenance. ☺️
