♻️ A slightly different refrigeration job for the team yesterday!

We were out working for a local Shire, degassing around 50 old fridges and freezers ready for disposal.

Degassing involves safely recovering the refrigerant from each appliance so it can be handled correctly rather than being released into the atmosphere.

They’ve been a long-time customer of ours, and it’s always great to continue working with organisations we’ve built relationships with over the years.

Around 50 units later, another job done! 🔧❄️

From an existing room to a purpose-built commercial coolroom ❄️

With Samovar Bunbury preparing to open its doors tomorrow, we recently completed this installation of its new coolroom as part of the café renovations.

This project required a different approach compared to a standard coolroom build. Because the coolroom was constructed inside an existing room, our technicians couldn’t access the outside of the panels during installation. Instead, the team used a tilt and up-and-over method to carefully manoeuvre the panels into position and assemble the coolroom within the available space.

Another challenge arose when the supplied coolroom door arrived configured for an external installation rather than the internal setup the room required. To keep the project moving, our team modified the door on site and adapted it to suit the space 🔧

The result is a purpose-built commercial coolroom, ready to meet Samovar’s day-to-day food storage requirements.

It’s great to be involved in another local hospitality project, and we wish the Samovar team all the best for opening day tomorrow! ☕️

Behind every fresh plate of chicken is a coolroom, a freezer, an ice machine and an air con system all quietly doing their job 🐔❄️

We recently completed another quarterly maintenance visit at Nando’s Bunbury - checking coolrooms, cabinet fridges and freezers, the ice machine, burger bench and air conditioning throughout the site.

It’s not glamorous work, but it can be the difference between planned servicing and an emergency callout when something fails mid-service.

When repairing is no longer the best option ❄️

This job at BWS Gelorup started with an ice freezer that wasn’t holding temperature.

Our initial assessment found a seized condenser fan motor, but further testing uncovered refrigerant loss and multiple leaks in the evaporator coil.

After repairs and further fault-finding, additional issues were identified. We also found the existing refrigeration unit was undersized for the application and didn’t correctly fit the cabinet it had been installed on.

Considering the freezer’s age, condition and ongoing repair costs, replacement became the better long-term option.

The customer supplied a replacement ice freezer, but getting it into position presented one last challenge: it wouldn’t fit through the doorway fully assembled.

Our technicians removed the refrigeration deck from the top, manoeuvred the cabinet into the store, reassembled it and tested operation.

About an hour later, the replacement was installed and ready to go 🧊

Sometimes repairing equipment makes sense. Sometimes replacement is the smarter investment. Knowing the difference starts with a proper assessment.
