🌱 APEX OVAL | SPRING RENOVATION 🌱
A big day at Apex Oval today, with NJS Lawn Solutions coordinating the first stage of the oval’s spring renovation.
We welcomed Chris from Turf Pro Renovations, who brought along his specialised Field Topmaker to undertake some serious surface renovation works.
🚜 So, what exactly does a Field Topmaker do?
Unlike traditional scarifying or dethatching, a Field Topmaker uses a specialised milling system to physically remove the upper layer of the turf surface.
Today, we removed approximately 20mm of the existing playing surface, stripping away the existing grass, accumulated thatch, organic matter and unwanted surface vegetation.
This process helps to:
✅ Remove excessive thatch and organic matter buildup.
✅ Eliminate unwanted surface vegetation and accumulated material.
✅ Address inconsistencies in the existing turf surface.
✅ Create a cleaner, more uniform foundation for turf regeneration and recovery.
This is a highly specialised renovation technique used on professional sporting surfaces to improve long-term turf quality and playing conditions.
