Testing out the new shorter rails for the lewisaw. Birdseye wandoo at 8.5% moisture content.

Birdseye figuring doesn't run very deep, but the natural edge will help make for some unique resin pieces.

Don't normally like karri, but apart from some rot in the heart they were very pleasing to the eye.

Too large for the bandsaw, so out with the chainsaw. The rest of the log should yield some nice timber with the swing blade next week.

Just a quick little post.

Got started on one of the log burls from the October fpc auction. This piece is approx 1600mm long by 900mm at it's widest.

Quite clean, with a nice tight figuring. Probably close to the best figured Jarrah burl I have ever cut.

Small slabbing job on the weekend for a customer. All the excuse I needed to give the new saw a small workout 😆

Just a 4.5m marri at around 850mm wide with a compression curve about 3.5m up the trunk.

Ended up docking it into a 3m and a 1.5m sections. The 3m section produced some nice, but not spectacular slabs. While the shorter piece ended up having some really nice curl in a couple of slabs as seen in the last few pictures.

Started working through some off the latest fpc auction burls. First has abit of staining in the colour, 2nd has a couple of nice prime pieces so pretty happy 😁

They are abit wide for the bandsaw mill, so had to use an Alaskan mill again.
