High-Voltage Electric Motors

Last month, the Pronation Electric team assisted DEMR, a valued client, with the overhaul and rebuild of 4 x 800 kW, 3.3 kV motors after the workshop experienced an increased workload.

Following the successful rebuild, the motors were run up and bench-tested for quality assurance and verification purposes.

Last month’s spotlight.

Static winding tests, along with a DE and NDE bearing change, were completed on an 11kV 2000kVA AVK Alternator.

Last month, the Pronation Electric team assisted with an in-field overhaul of a Cummins AVK located at a remote power station within the NT. An exercise like this is challenging at the best of times, and completing the work in a remote area adds another layer of complexity.

There were a few hurdles along the way, as expected, but the job was completed successfully, within a three-day turnaround.

Periodic and regular gas sensor calibration is critical to maintaining the effectiveness of systems that use these sensors to protect life and property. Often this important task is overlooked by operational and facility management teams due to a lack of competency or technical knowledge. At Pronation Electric, we assist maintenance teams and property managers with technical support and calibration services to help track, record and maintain system health and equipment calibration compliance for traceability and serviceability. Last month, our team calibrated a series of carbon monoxide sensors for a carpark ventilation system at a local shopping complex.

Top End wet-season weather at its best!

Last month we helped the local Satellite City BMX Club restore power after the original installation sustained water damage from heavy rain and cyclonic weather. The Pronation Electric team worked through challenging conditions, which were testing at times, to safely reinstate the supply. As part of the works, we also improved the installation by fitting new IP66 switchboards with custom rain-hoods, helping to provide better protection from the elements so the site can get back to normal and remain dependable and reliable for future wet seasons.

Despite the weather, it was all worth it to see the lights on again and the kids back riding around the track for the first club open day of the season. It’s great to support local clubs and help keep community facilities up and running when they’re needed most.
