“Why is tree work so expensive?” 🌳💸
The gear alone is a pretty big investment and this is only some of what a professional climbing arborist carries into a tree.
For a lead climber like our model Thibaut Derobert, this gear gets used hard, day in and day out. Harnesses, ropes, climbing equipment, chainsaw pants… it can all wear out and need replacing surprisingly quickly.
Sure, cheaper gear exists. But when you’re 20m up a tree, “she’ll be right” isn’t really a safety strategy.
We invest in quality equipment because the goal isn’t just getting the job done, it’s getting it done safely, efficiently, and without destroying your body in the process.
Good tree work isn’t cheap. And cheap tree work isn’t always good. 🌳🪚

Removing a dead camaldulensis (river red gum) next to a highway, this stuff is as hard and heavy as concrete when it’s dead!
Hard to hammer the climbing spikes into 😮‍💨

Sadly we had to take this one out :( The oldest resident on the street by far. Myself and DD TREE SERVICES of Sarina Qld took over from another crew. One of whom unfortunately was seriously injured in the attempt. Many broken bones! Incidentally another climber in the same neighbourhood working in a similar size tree also got seriously injured in his attempt! camaldulensis is a very heavy wood and requires skilled experienced climbers and team to mange the operation safely.
