A few of us had the pleasure of heading along to the Master Builders Tasmania Awards recently — and what a night.
While we didn’t take home the award in our category, we felt incredibly proud to have made it through as finalists and to see our project recognised alongside such an impressive standard of work from builders across Tasmania.
We were joined on the night by the architect and owner of the home we entered, which made the experience all the more special. Fire resilience was a big part of the thinking behind this project, and something we remain deeply interested in — both in new, ground-up builds and in the ways existing homes can be retrospectively improved to better withstand bushfire conditions.

The night itself was a great reminder of just how much skill, care and craftsmanship exists within Tasmania’s building industry. There was something particularly good about seeing so many people who are usually working through rain, wind, mud and everything else the Tasmanian weather throws at us, suddenly scrubbed up in tuxedos and celebrating the work they’re proud of.
The projects presented throughout the evening were beautiful, thoughtful and genuinely inspiring.
And a special mention has to go to the people behind the event — wonderful food and drinks, an incredibly polished evening, and truly outstanding wait staff and catering.
We were very happy to be part of it, proud to have made the finalist list, and left feeling inspired by the work happening around us.
Hopefully we’ll be back again next year.
