Now this looks like a whole new backyard! When the Corey Fox team started work here, this was an old red brick home. As part of the landscape design, they suggested freshening up the home facade to better connect with the beautiful new backyard they were designing.

Next thing, the facade facelift was part of the brief and the result is this gorgeously serene backyard! And there's a little hidden gem if you look closely...

See there at the back of the pool there's a little window down low? Swipe to see what's in there!

This was previously a dark and dingy little spot that is now bright and sheltered to share a meal overlooking the pool in the heat of summer or cosy up in winter.

Appreciation post for this ultra-realistic Eva-Last composite decking.

Looks incredible backing onto the pool coping at our Sylvania project!

And of course a shout out for the by .com.au, creating the perfect shady spot to soak in the view - not the rays!

Choosing your pool coping? Here’s what to keep in mind:

1. We’ll always prefer the unbeatable look and feel of natural stone over porcelain tiles. Natural stone stays cool under foot (saves your bare feet around the pool!), but it does require a bit of maintenance to keep it looking beautiful.

2. You want a high density stone with low porosity. Marble, limestone and travertine are great. Sandstone is too porous. *Note that porosity can differ between different types of limestone and travertine too, so check the stone’s suitability with the retailer or your landscaper.

2. Make sure the tile has at least a P4 slip rating, both for safety and compliance.

3. Always wet the tile before purchasing as the colour variation between wet and dry can be significant!

4. Remember natural stones are inherently porous. They will stain over time with exposure to decaying leaf litter, oils or pigmented substances like wine. Sealing doesn’t eliminate staining, it just buys you time to clean it up, allowing you to prevent staining.

5. Check out some of our favourite natural stone suppliers:

If you're thinking of going with a salt water chlorinator for your pool, an outdoor shower is a must!

A quick and easy spot to rinse off chlorine from cossies that's also perfect for washing muddy feet and melted ice-block stains before heading inside, you'll wonder what you did without it!

We've stuck with our favourite from for our Dapto project and created this perfect little nook with Savona limestone pavers.

How custom, intentional design makes all the difference //

Though our brief often begins with 'we need a pergola', we like to spend time teasing this out to get a better idea of how considered design can create a result that is much more than just a pergola or cabana for our clients.

This gorgeous cabana created in partnership with Life Outdoors & Corey Fox Landscaping is the perfect example of how creating a detailed brief can result in a much better outcome:

☀️ Create a luxury cabana to relax in the shade.

☀️ Enclose the space to afford privacy from neighbours and shelter from wind.

☀️ Match the Mediterranean theme of the backyard and tie in with the pool. We used arches and curved corners visually connect with the pool space.

☀️ Avoid blocking natural light entering the house window positioned right behind it. We positioned an arch on the back wall in front of the window. This ties in with the arched theme and lets light flow into the home.

☀️ Use the structure to frame the view - like a postcard.
