We are excited to share that the Romsey Ecotherapy Park received two accolades at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture Awards (Victorian Chapter). This included a Landscape Architecture Award for Parks and Open Space and a Regional Achievement Award for recognition in improving the natural and built environment in regional Victoria.

We thank the Romsey Ecotherapy Park Inc. and Macedon Ranges Shire Council for their unwavering support of ACLA, who initiated a vision almost 14 years ago to transform a former primary school into a community park.

So much time is invested into design - collaboration, consultation, interpretation, ex*****on of ideas and thought processes. As landscape architects it is so rewarding to witness designs come to fruition through Contractors who share a similar passion to deliver a great space through quality workmanship and honour the design as originally intended. We’ll done to for an outstanding achievement and to all subcontractors and suppliers who contributed to this outcome.

We are excited to share that the Romsey Ecotherapy Park received the “Park of the Year Award” at the Parks and Leisure Awards (Vic/Tas) last Thursday night. This is a tremendous achievement for our practice to see the vision and design of the park become a reality for public enjoyment. The Ecotherapy Park is an innovative nature-based space for passive recreation incorporating visual cultural elements, therapeutic opportunities, spaces for children to play and capacity for open-air performances and events. It was (and still is) a community-led initiative by the Romsey Ecotherapy Park Inc. whose unwavering passion and commitment to see the former Romsey Primary School site convert to a space for the community to enjoy is something to admire and commend. Our thanks also extend to Macedon Ranges Shire Council, State and Federal funding bodies, contractors, artists, local businesses, families and other philanthropic agencies for their belief in the project and providing ACLA the opportunity to create something special and memorable.

It was an exciting night at the Parks and Leisure Australia Awards (Vic and Tas) last week where Booran Reserve received two awards for Park of the Year and the Playspace Award (over $500K) 2018. ACLA was instrumental in the design of the playspace which has led to the creation of a fantastic community space. Many thanks to Glen Eira City Council, the ACLA team and project consultants who have contributed to a successful outcome.

We thank the City of Glen Eira for capturing the construction of Booran Reserve in a short time lapse video. Construction took just over a year but you can see it all unfold in about 3 minutes. ACLA Consultants are supper proud of the playspace design and the sense of community togetherness this new park brings not only to the people of Glen Eira, but to the wider Melbourne Community. We're so thrilled to be creating public spaces such as this. Enjoy!

A big part of ACLA's success are the people within our organisation and their commitment to quality designed public spaces. We celebrated the year at our Chirstmas Party, held at Maha Restaurant, which proved to be a wonderful experience of fine wining and dining. A big thank you to everyone at ACLA, including their families, and we look forward to an even bigger year in 2017! Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful idea for families and children who have an autism spectrum disorder. This article was in Saturday's Age and is worth a read. The "social script" is available from the Parks Victoria Website so please pass the message on to those that you know. The Brimbank Park Playspace was a design collaboration between Ric McConaghy Playspaces and ACLA Landscape Architects and we're honored that the playspace has widespread community appeal, just as it was intended !

Leaving the house can be a nightmare for parents of children with autism who get anxious in new places. A new initiative hopes to change that.
