STAFF SPOTLIGHT 💛

Meet Rezaul, one of our wonderful Support Workers in the NT!

Rezaul brings patience, humour and a calm, supportive approach to his role, helping the people he supports feel safe, respected and valued.

With a passion for making others happy, Rezaul believes even a simple smile can make a difference. His favourite animal is a giraffe, and when he’s not supporting others, he enjoys watching movies, binge-watching series and reading books.

We’re proud to have Rezaul as part of the Better Connections team. Thank you for the kindness, positivity and care you bring to the people you support.

A little look at what’s been happening at our Day Program lately.

From getting out and about in the community to trying new activities, spending time with friends and enjoying plenty of laughs, there’s always something happening at Better Connections.

We love seeing everyone getting involved, building confidence, learning new skills and, most importantly, enjoying their time together.

Here are a few highlights from the past month!

A big happy birthday to all our wonderful staff who celebrated their birthdays over the past month, and congratulations to everyone who celebrated a work anniversary!

A special shout-out to Shannon, our Quality Operations Manager, who we surprised with a birthday cake at Marlows. We hope you had a lovely birthday, Shannon!

🌊 Celebrating Rachel’s Surf Life Saving journey! 🌊

Rachel has absolutely loved being involved in the program and has embraced every opportunity to learn, participate and be part of the team. It has been wonderful to see her confidence grow, while also seeing her encourage and support the younger participants.
Rachel is now keen to take the next step and become a surf lifesaving volunteer. Tania has been looking into upcoming Surf NT course dates, and we’re excited to see where this opportunity takes her.

With Rachel’s Jellyfish membership valid for the next 12 months, there are plenty more opportunities ahead, including land-based sessions during the off-season and alternative water-based activities when conditions are suitable.

Most importantly, we’ve seen such a positive change in Rachel’s mood, confidence and overall wellbeing. She has been in great spirits, and it has been fantastic to see her thriving through something she genuinely enjoys. 💙

Celebrating the wonderful Andria and her incredible 7-year work anniversary with Better Connections.

Andria is one of the friendly voices you hear when you call Better Connections and is always bringing her bubbly personality and warmth to the team.
She has been such a valued part of Better Connections over the past seven years, and we’re so grateful for everything she brings to our team.

✈️ Day Program Outing!

This week the guys enjoyed a visit to the historic 1934 Qantas Hangar at Parap. They found it really interesting learning about the hangar and its history while getting out and exploring something a little different.
Another great day of exploring, learning and enjoying the community. 💜

🌟 STAFF SPOTLIGHT SISKA 🌟

Siska is a caring and compassionate Support Worker who always goes above and beyond for the people she supports. Her kind nature and genuine dedication make her such a valued part of the Better Connections team. 💜💛

Outside of work, Siska is a big dog lover 🐶 and absolutely loves spending time with furry friends.

And when it comes to food… Siska’s favourites are lobster, crab and squid! 🦞🦀🦑

A very special end-of-term celebration at Sticky Fingers!

Today, our clients invited us along to enjoy a meal they had prepared themselves, with each participant able to invite one special guest to join them.

They took us through the experience from start to finish, serving up the meals they had cooked, explaining what each dish was and proudly sharing their creations with their guests.

They then cleared the tables, washed the dishes and finished the afternoon by serving up dessert.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the skills, independence, confidence and teamwork they’ve been building throughout the term and, of course, enjoy a delicious meal together!

This week we’re shining the spotlight on Sanam, who has been part of the Better Connections team for almost 5 years 🎉

As a Team Leader NT, Sanam brings a calm, laid-back and supportive approach to everything he does. He is always willing to lend a hand and is passionate about creating a relaxed and positive environment for both participants and the team.

Sanam loves getting out and about with participants, especially exploring Fogg Dam during the wet season, as well as getting creative with arts and crafts. 🌿🐊🎨

We’re so grateful to have Sanam as part of the Better Connections family. Thank you for everything you do, Sanam. 💛💜

Over the past month, our Day Program has been filled with plenty of fun outings, new experiences and opportunities to build confidence and independence.

From getting out into the community and trying new activities to developing everyday skills, it’s been a month full of learning, connection and plenty of smiles. 😊
