SITE WORK SUNDAY | WEATHERBOARD PREP

A bit of prep work before the paint goes on.

These weatherboards have been sanded back and taped up, ready for the spray application.

Good preparation is a big part of getting a quality exterior paint finish, and it’s worth taking the time to get it right before spraying begins.

Next step… time for some paint!

It’s all in the finish.

A look at this entry door getting a mirror-like gloss enamel finish, applied by brush.

Getting that smooth, high-gloss look takes patience, a steady hand and attention to detail.

It’s the finishing touches that make all the difference.

SITE WORK SUNDAY | MECHANICAL SANDING

A bit of the prep work that goes into getting a smooth finish.

We use a mechanical sander connected to a vacuum to sand our patched areas, which helps capture the dust as we go and keeps dust throughout the home to a minimum.

Less dust floating around, less clean-up and a much better working environment.

It’s all part of getting the surface properly prepared before the paint goes on.

A look back at this renovation and extension we completed alongside MS Constructions , where our team completed the internal and external painting, along with the timber deck.

With the existing home being extended, there was plenty of painting work involved in bringing the original areas and new spaces together and giving the whole home a consistent finish.

From the preparation and painting inside, through to the exterior finishes and deck, we worked across the project to make sure everything was finished to the same standard.

Always good looking back at a completed project and seeing how it all came together.

A great one to have been part of alongside MS Constructions.

SITE WORK SUNDAY | GAP FILLING

It’s the little details that make a difference to the finished job.

When gap filling along skirting, we run the gap filler in one continuous movement to keep the bead even and consistent.

We then wipe off any excess to leave a clean, neat finish ready for painting.

A small step, but an important part of getting those skirting boards and wall junctions looking their best.

A look back at this new build.

We completed all of the interior and exterior painting throughout this home, from the walls and ceilings through to the exterior finishes.

Another new build painting project completed by the team.

SITE WORK SUNDAY | ROLLING WALLS
Rolling is one of the most effective methods for applying paint across large wall areas.
A roller allows paint to be distributed efficiently and evenly across the surface while creating a consistent texture.

The roller type and nap are selected according to the surface and paint being used. Paint is applied in manageable sections to maintain consistent coverage across the wall.
While cutting in and rolling walls, maintaining a wet edge is essential to achieve a seamless, uniform finish whilst avoiding any potential picture framing occurring.

Maintaining a wet edge allows each section to blend into the next, helping minimise visible lines, overlaps and variations in sheen as the paint dries.
The right roller, the right technique and good preparation all contribute to a consistent professional finish.

YOUR HOME IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST INVESTMENT YOU’LL EVER MAKE… SO ARE YOU LOOKING AFTER IT?

Think about everything that goes into making your house a home. The mortgage, renovations, kitchen, bathroom, garden and all the time and money you’ve put into it.

So why is painting often one of the last things we think about?

A quality paint job isn’t just about making your home look good. It can also help protect exterior surfaces from the harsh Australian weather, freshen up tired areas, improve street appeal and help maintain your property.

Over time, paint can become faded, chalky, cracked or start peeling. Leaving these issues too long can mean more work and bigger repair costs down the track.

A repaint is an investment in your home, not just an expense.

✅Protect exterior surfaces
✅Freshen up tired areas
✅Improve street appeal
✅Help maintain your property
✅Get on top of deterioration early
✅Give your home a new lease on life

And you don’t have to be selling to benefit. Sometimes you just want to come home and be proud of what you see.

At Cobram Painting & Rendering, we take pride in the preparation, products and workmanship that go into every job.

If your home is looking a little tired, faded or overdue for some TLC, give us a call and let’s have a chat.

SITE WORK SUNDAY | CUTTING IN

Cutting in is an important part of achieving a clean paint finish.
A brush allows painters to apply paint neatly along corners, edges, frames, ceilings and other areas that a roller cannot reach effectively.

The edges are carefully coated before the larger wall areas are rolled. Working the brushwork into the rolled section while the paint is still workable helps create a consistent finish across the wall.
While cutting in and rolling walls, maintaining a wet edge is essential to achieve a seamless, uniform finish whilst avoiding any potential picture framing occurring.

Maintaining a wet edge allows the cut-in areas to blend seamlessly into the rolled sections, helping minimise visible lines, overlaps and variations in sheen as the paint dries.
The brush handles the detail. The roller handles the coverage. Both have an important role in achieving the finished result.

A job with a bit more detail than your average paint job.

This one involved painting out the basketball court lines and finishing the centre logo.

A fair bit of taping, measuring and patience went into getting the lines and logo sitting where they needed to be.

The finished result speaks for itself.
