🚨 Before you hire a landscaper, READ THIS!

This lovely family recently moved to Sydney and built their dream home. Sadly, they trusted the wrong contractor.

After taking payment, the contractor abandoned the project, leaving behind defective and incomplete work.

Before signing with any contractor:

✔️ Verify they’re licensed for the work they’re carrying out.

✔️ For structural landscaping projects over $20,000 in NSW, the contractor cannot accept any payment, including a deposit, until the Home Building Compensation Fund (HBCF) certificate has been issued.

✔️ Not every licensed landscaper is eligible to obtain HBCF insurance. Holding a licence does not automatically mean they can issue an HBCF certificate.

✔️ Make sure they’re fully insured.

✔️ A reputable contractor should be happy to answer your questions and explain exactly how they’ll build your project. If they avoid your questions or rush you into signing, that’s a red flag.

✔️ If one quote is significantly cheaper than the others, ask yourself: What shortcuts could be taken that you won’t discover until it’s too late?
