⚡ Commercial Switchboard Upgrade Completed ⚡

This ageing chassis-mounted switchboard had reached the end of its practical service life, so the Sparc Electrical & Air team completed a full upgrade to a new Hager Invicta 160A three-phase distribution board.

This was much more than simply changing the enclosure. The project included:

✅ Removal of the old chassis and protective devices
✅ New 160A Hager main isolator
✅ Complete replacement of circuit breakers and RCBO protection
✅ Inspection and re-termination of the existing circuits
✅ New neutral and earth bars
✅ Clear circuit identification and labelling
✅ Allowance for future expansion
✅ Comprehensive electrical testing and commissioning

The result is a safer, neater and more reliable distribution system that will be considerably easier to maintain and service in the future.

As Sparc has grown, so has our team, our capabilities and the services we provide. What started primarily as an electrical business has grown to provide Electrical, Air Conditioning, Solar & Battery solutions for our customers.

With that growth, we felt it was time for our brand to grow with us.

⚠️ Solar Safety Alert

During a recent solar inspection, our team identified a severely damaged solar panel that had developed a hotspot reaching 148.8°C.

While the system was still generating power, the damaged panel had become a significant safety concern and was reducing the overall performance of the solar system.

Common causes of solar panel damage include:

WET WEATHER ELECTRICAL SAFETY WARNING ⚠️ 🌧️

With the ongoing heavy rain across Brisbane, we are seeing an increase in nuisance tripping and moisture-related electrical faults.

If your safety switches (RCDs), breakers or circuits are tripping during this weather, please DO NOT continue repeatedly resetting them. ⚡️

In many cases, the cause is likely moisture or water ingress into:
• Outdoor power points
• Light fittings
• Switches
• Air conditioning isolators
• Solar equipment
• External electrical circuits

Attempting to continually turn circuits back on while they are still wet can potentially worsen damage and create a serious electrical safety risk.

✅ Our recommendation:
• Leave the affected circuit OFF
• Wait until weather conditions improve and equipment has had time to dry out
• Then attempt ONE reset only once conditions are safe and dry
• If the circuit continues tripping, arrange inspection by a licensed electrician

🚨 QLD SMOKE ALARM LAWS CHANGE IN 2027 🚨

A lot of homes across Queensland still won’t meet the new smoke alarm laws coming into effect by 1 January 2027.

If your home still has the old style alarms, there’s a good chance it’s non-compliant.

The new laws require:
✔ Photoelectric smoke alarms
✔ Interconnected alarms (when one sounds, they all sound)
✔ Smoke alarms in every bedroom
✔ Smoke alarms in hallways and on every level of the home

This isn’t just about compliance it’s about giving your family the best chance in the event of a fire.
