⚠️ Mack & Lanson RCBO recall — could your switchboard be affected?

Certain Mack & Lanson combination RCD/MCB (RCBO) units have been recalled after failing the required 6kA short-circuit test.

The affected products were sold through Electrical Wholesalers between 16 September 2010 and 5 November 2010.

In the event of a rare high-fault current, these RCBOs may pose an electrical shock risk and should be replaced.

🔎 What should you do?
Have your switchboard inspected by a licensed electrician to check whether an affected RCBO is installed.

If one is identified, it should be replaced by a qualified professional. Don't attempt to remove or replace electrical components yourself.

Not everything wrong with an electrical installation is visible at first glance. ⚠️⚡

While working on these garden bollard lights, we found multiple exposed connections vulnerable to water, along with extremely dated cabling.

To repair the installation, we carefully jackhammered away the surrounding concrete to access more of the existing cabling and conduit. We then extended the wiring using straight-through lugs and resin-filled heat shrink to create a water-resistant connection.

A detailed repair that will help provide residents with a safer and more reliable environment at night. 💡
