The column shells for the new Fitzroy Bridge are about to hit the road!

To speed up construction of the bridge, we’re using precast shells to form the new bridge’s columns, instead of traditional on-site formwork.

Four of these shells will be stacked on top of each other and then filled with reinforced concrete on site to form the bridge columns.

The shells are being made by Permacast in Cardup yard, and are about 12m long, 1.2m wide and 2.2m tall.
