⚖️ You can't compare two renovation prices until you know they're taking you to the same finished home.

One quote may include the painting, selections and quantities you're picturing.

Another may have lower allowances, narrower scope and important items sitting outside the price.

Until those differences are made clear, the cheaper quote may simply be buying less.

Ask each builder to explain the exclusions, allowances, scope and major quantities before you compare the totals.

That's how you work out which number is genuinely better value.

If a four-bedroom home has eight toilets in the quote, ask why.

If three bathrooms are being renovated but there's no tile supply listed, ask where it sits.

If the tile quantity seems far larger than the areas involved, bring it up.

You're not trying to catch the builder out. You're checking that the estimate belongs to your plans and hasn't been prepared using the wrong quantity, assumption or drawing revision.
