All through fall and winter, your roof valleys collect leaves, bark, and debris from surrounding trees. That build-up sits in the channel, traps moisture, and causes the mortar and lining to deteriorate from the inside out.

By the time spring arrives and the first heavy rains come through in September, a partially blocked or corroded roof valley can go from a minor issue to a serious leak very quickly.

Roof valleys are the channels where two roof slopes meet. They are designed to carry water away from your roof. When they are blocked or compromised, that water has nowhere to go except through your ceiling. 💧

August is Brisbane's driest month of the year. ☀️ Barely two rainy days on average, up to 9 hours of sunshine daily, and temperatures climbing back toward the low 20s as spring approaches.

That makes right now the single best window of the year to get your roof sorted before storm season arrives.

And if your roof tile clips are worn or have never been replaced, those winds put real stress on your tiles. Loose tiles are not just a roofing problem. They are a safety risk, both for the people below and for the roof structure itself.

Roof tile clips are the small metal fasteners that hold your concrete tiles securely in place. Over time they corrode and fail, particularly on roofs that have not been maintained in a few years. I recommend having your roof reclipped every couple of years to make sure everything is held down properly.
