My watch has a calendar. It is virtually a little wheel with numbers on it from 1 to 31.

Every midnight the wheel clicks over to the next number. The watch is not smart enough to recognize leap years or months with only 30 days.

So I set the date on 1/1/2024. On 1/3/2024 the watch will show the date as 30 instead of 1
