Dual occupancy project in Lyons

Complete rebuild of this 1960s Lyons property - stripped to the frame and extended at the front. Built a second home at the rear to make it a dual occupancy site.

Sometimes the bones are worth keeping. This one had a solid foundation and the frame was still straight and in great condition - they built things to last back then, which is the same approach we take at Aztec Building Solutions.

Hi everyone,

Its been quite a year for Aztec, we were fortunate enough to not have any downtime. We completed 4 extensions between 40 and 70m2, and 2 granny flats both 80m2. Currently we have another 3 jobs open and approx 8 months of work booked.

None of that would be possible without a great team of employees and sub contractors, so a big thank you to all of you.

The highlight of the year was the 2 granny flats. A few years ago the ACT government changed the rules to encourage the construction of granny flats. With plenty of large blocks in Canberra, we are seeing these flats become very popular.

A few months ago we showed you some progress shots of a job we were doing in Garran. Here is the final product with some before and after pics which show just how much of a difference you can make to the street appeal of an established property.

The scope of work includes an extension with a master bedroom, WIR and ensuite, and then a complete makeover of the existing home with render, eaves, colourbond fascia and gutter etc.

The vanity and shaving cabinet are pretty special. Both are custom made with natural timber from Thor's Hammer, finished with black resin to bring out the features.

Hey everyone, we hope you are all keeping warm as we gear up for another long Canberra winter.

Here are some before and after pics of a job we recently completed in Red Hill. The extension turns a small dark kitchen into an open plan kitchen and living area that is both vibrant and spacious. The high windows take advantage of the northern aspect, which will really help warm things up during winter.

A big thank you to Sean from Pines Productions for the photos, who is also our new first year apprentice. Welcome to the team mate.

Happy Easter everyone! We hope you are enjoying your long weekend wherever you are. Remember to stay safe and don't eat too much chocolate.

Ever wondered how you can utilize that empty wall space? Tired of having your soap products take up valuable floor space in the shower? Or you simply need to keep the easter eggs out of the kids' reach? The answer is recessed shelving.

Whether in the wet areas or kitchen/family rooms, recessed shelving is a great way to save space whilst creating a nice feature in the room.

Here are some examples of various designs, all from jobs we have done over the past couple of years.

Wishing you all a very happy new year! We hope 2016 was a great year for everyone. It was a year of firsts for the Aztec team with our first 2 storey extension, our first new home, and now we are expecting our first baby!

Introducing another proud transformation. You wouldn't know it from the 'before' photo, but this house actually had a rather large and modern extension built at the rear of the property. Naturally the home owner wanted to complement this addition by changing the front of the house to suit.

The roof line was brought forward by 3 metres, the windows changed to double doors, as well as adding a tiled concrete porch. The finished product is a completely transformed house, with a significantly increased market value.

Winter is fast approaching but there is no slowing down at Aztec Building. We are currently working on multiple extensions so keep an eye out for upcoming photos when they are done.
