A special thanks to WorkSafe ACT Commissioner Jacqueline Agius for updating the Master Plumbers ACT Board Meeting today about WHS trends across Canberra's plumbing and broader construction industries.

As with any line of work, safety must be the number one priority and it's up to everyone involved to promote a positive and forward-thinking safety culture.

The vast majority of industry does the right thing, however some key points raised today, included:

👷 Musculoskeletal and muscular stress injuries sustained while handling objects (other than lifting, carrying & putting down) could be better mitigated.
👷 Weekends need to be treated with same safety attitude as weekdays when it comes to work, health and safety compliance.
👷 Roof plumbers naturally deal with scaffolding to carry out their work and it's critical these structures are safe.

Master Plumbers ACT stands for a strong safety culture across our industry, and we thank Commissioner Agius for her engagement with us!

On Wednesday September 9th the CIT Fyshwick will host an opportunity for school groups to get face to face with plumbing trade specialists and learn more about what the CIT side of an apprenticeship is like!

Plumbing really is the best trade, and the industry always needs keen school leavers!
