Thank you so much Envirotecture and Talina. It's great to be able to work together. Shout out to using natural and honest materials. We do trust the owners of this beautiful home are delighted with the outcome.

Loft Living. Windows used to mitigate the intensity of light in a living space. A space which may also be used to study in the future. Smaller, similar windows seemed to be the most effective way to achieve this.

Loft Living. Stairs in former study area. Decision to place these here was to reinforce the idea behind keeping the original house functions. Second storey virtually becomes a separate entity with strong connections via voids.

Loft Living. A project we completed last year which was built within time and budget.

The intent was a semi-extrusion extension to add two extra bedrooms and separate bathroom and living area upstairs. The dwelling sits humbly with respect to neighbouring properties.

"For the financial year 2019-20 Shared Space Architecture has made a contribution to Greenfleet in the act of offsetting our carbon emissions which we as Australians contribute to the environment. We do this voluntarily and do this because there are projects out there in our country which aim to increase biodiversity and encourage delight in nature. Also, in our work, we generally provide advice based around an energy efficient built environment and see the need to get our house in order to continue to provide this advice honestly."

"Beyond an update in décor, aesthetic, vogue and fancy, a home is primarily a shelter and a place to retreat from weather and public life. The secondary reason a dwelling exists is for comfort and well-being. The tertiary reason the dwelling exists is its beauty and aesthetic. It is inline with these levels of purpose (primary, secondary and tertiary) where the most value is provided to the homeowner."

With a homeowner stimulus packages, uncertainty on top of restrictions imposed by COVID-19 and time to notice how you might like to change things, you may want to renovate your home.

Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone.
"In 2014, Energy Rating (Australian Government) found that space heating accounts for 40% of energy use. This number is confirmed by yourhome.gov.au. ‘Compare the market’ did some research on energy usage in 2017, throughout Summer and Winter and in a four-person household. Melbourne had a Winter energy use of 1,738kWh, 40% of this can be attributed to space heating, a value of 695.2kWh, an average of 7.72kWh per day over 90 days."
