Many of you would know our site supervisor Cathal Honan. Unfortunately he & his family are going through an incredibly difficult time after the sudden passing of his sister, Mairéad Delaney. She leaves behind her beautiful children, who now need all the love and support they can get.

We’ve set up a GoFundMe to help support the kids and ease some of the burden on the family during this heartbreaking time. Any contribution, big or small, would mean the world — and if you’re not able to donate, sharing this post would help more than you know.

The New Melton Railway Station is taking shape at NWPA's latest Level Crossing Removal Project! Since November 2025, Astern Group have been diligently and safely crafting the main station platforms and associated works that will reconnect travellers to the regional Ballarat V/Line.

Astern Group are on track to complete below scope for the new Melton Station:

- Forming, Reinforcing & Pouring 1000 meters of station platform retaining L-Walls
- Forming & Pouring 600 meters of rail bridge U-Trough Stitches with use of steel fiber reinforced concrete
- Lifting, landing and grouting 99nos Precast U-Foundations & 195nos Precast Slabs that will form to new platforms in new station
- Forming, Reinforcing & Pouring 110m3 of approach slabs and ballast walls
- Installing of bondek, Reinforcing & Pouring suspended station slabs on structural steel
- 1000 m3 of flowable fill as part of the new centre platform construction

At this rate, it won't be too long before Exford Rd and Coburns Rd are rail crossing-free!
