What goes in must come out! This image shows plastic ear bud stems and other non-biodegradable debris which has been caught in an effluent flow meter internal of a commercial sewage treatment plant.

Just goes to show that plastic items that are flushed down the toilet, or put down the sink have the ability to cause blockages at all stages down stream – whether in your amenities pipework, the sewerage treatment plant, or the irrigation equipment, foreign objects other than toilet paper can always resurface and come back to haunt you.

As we approach Clean Up Australia Day (Sunday March 1st) take the opportunity to remind co-workers and family that plastics, cardboard and rubbish belong in the bin, and not down the drain.
