Its officially first week back after Christmas for many of us and summer hit with a vengance a few weeks ago. EVERYONE has seen the devasting fires around Australia and our hearts go out to all those affected.

We've been busy already in our district with lots of work clearing and reducing foliage around some of our existing customers on semi rural and hills properties. We've had alot of calls about fuel reduction and although your fire breaks and fire preparedness need to have been sorted already, its never too late to review and reduce fuel loads near your home's or outbuildings. Rangers are out checking your fuel loads on the boundaries and overhanging your house or interfering with powerlines. .. the FESA guidelines are attached as we are in for a huge summer for potential fires.

Protection Zones
We all have a responsibility to reduce the risk of bushfire. By preparing your home or business, you increase the chance that it will survive a bushfire.

One way you can help protect your property is to create a circle of safety (building protection zone) around the building.

DFES has the following tips when creating a circle of safety:
Create a 20 metre circle of safety around your home and other buildings by clearing all rubbish, long dry grass, bark and material that may catch fire. Prune lower branches (up to two metres off the ground) to stop a ground fire spreading into the canopy of the trees. Clear vegetation along the boundary of your property to create a firebreak. Make sure you meet your local government’s firebreak requirements.Cut long grass and dense scrub. Call us for a free quote on 0427447046 and we'll organise to pop around no obligation and discuss. There will be times when we can't operate heavy machinery in hot weather but as soon as safe to do so we can.

It's February already many of you will have seen and heard a few bushfire reports on the news. Fire weather predictions for this bush fire season are a bit scary. Hazard reduction is a key factor in your fire management plan its well and truly time to start reducing foliage overhanging your home and out buildings. This is particularly important in areas of increased risk of bushfires and we have many suburbs in the metro area that fall into this category. We've had a large number of fallen trees (gum mostly) and lots of work clearing and reducing foliage around semi rural and hills properties. Give us a call for a free quote its never too late but better before severe heat comes in, there are times when we can't operate large machinery in extremely hot conditions so don't leave it too late. Even those semi rural customers that need fallen limbs chipped. Call Bruce on 0427 447 046..

It's been a busy month at Millers, with the heat we've had alot of work pruning away from homes and reducing fuel loads around properties. The heat has also seen alot of palm clean ups around pools and several large limbs dropping off gum trees. We also take this time to prune some of our long term business clients car parks whilst their staff take well earned breaks.

If you'd like a free no obligation quotation please call Bruce on 0427 447046.

Just a reminder to everyone that its officially summer in a few weeks and your fire breaks and fire preparedness need to be sorted ASAP. Rangers are out checking your fuel loads on the boundaries and overhanging your house or interfering with powerlines. There are also several areas with green waste pick up happening this fortnight so give us a call for a free quote and be careful of the door knockers they are not insured and have been known to rip people off. Support a local business who employ people in your suburb.. the FESA guidelines are attached just to give you an idea and as we've had such a huge amount of rain this winter we are in for a huge summer for potential fires.

It's the first week of Spring, and many of you will have ventured out into the garden over the past two sunny days. Its time now to prune your trees and shrubs before they go into a heavy growth period. They all look abit sad after pruning but they'll flourish and give good growth over the spring season. It'll also make life in summer alot easier by reducing overhanging branches that my pose a risk in the height of summer. For a free quote feel free to message us or Call Bruce on 0427447046.
