Last week some of the team got a chance to step away from the yard for the Wilson Timbers Golf Day.

Alongside the golf, the trade day was a great opportunity to see what’s new across building products, technology and the way the industry is evolving.

We’re always looking for ways to improve how we work and staying up to date with what’s happening in the industry is a big part of that.

It’s all about bringing new ideas and knowledge back to the way we approach each build.

As families grow and change, so do the ways they use their homes.

What worked for a young family doesn’t always work once the kids are older, and sometimes the best renovation is simply about making the home work better for the life you’re living now.

For Kate, that meant creating more separation between the kids and parents, giving everyone their own spaces and making better use of the character already within the home.

Making the renovation less about adding more, and more about making the home work for the next stage of life.

Building a custom home is a big investment - and not just financially.

There’s also the time, the planning and the years you’ll spend living with the decisions you make along the way.

That’s why we believe the early stages of a build deserve just as much thought as the construction itself.

Taking the time to consider how you’ll actually use the home, what might change over time and what could be difficult to alter later can make a big difference to the finished result.

The goal isn’t simply to get to the end of the build.

It’s to get there knowing you made the right decisions for the way you want to live.

From the first conversations through to the final details, the team on site becomes a big part of the experience.

But it's more than just seeing each other on site, it’s about understanding what you’re trying to create, paying attention to the details and making sure that vision carries through into the finished home.

One of the biggest concerns when building is not knowing exactly when you’ll be able to move in.

Will the build run over? Will you need to extend your rental? What happens if the timeline keeps shifting?

For Kate, one of the things that stood out most was how closely her build has stayed to the original expected completion date.

Good planning, clear communication and staying ahead of the schedule all make a difference!

A great build is built on more than plans and materials…

It’s built on trust!

After 15+ years in the industry, one thing we’ve learned is that the relationship between a homeowner and their builder can shape the entire building experience.

Clear communication, realistic expectations and staying ahead of decisions all play a role in making the process smoother.

And when challenges do come up (because in construction, they sometimes do) having a builder you can trust makes all the difference.
