New bit of kit for Kirkland Building Co. 👌

We’ve added a new hydraulic tipper trailer with a full cage to the fleet, because keeping our sites clean and organised is part of doing the job properly.

Site clean ups, rubbish removal and dump runs just got a whole lot easier.

Big thanks to Bundy Batteries & Trailers for getting us sorted.

One less excuse for Dave to leave a pile of rubbish “for the next trip.” 😂

Cheap acreage can become very expensive acreage.

Before falling in love with the view, understand the site.
Things worth investigating include:
Access.
Slope.
Soil.
Flooding.
Bushfire requirements.
Power.
Water.
Wastewater.
Earthworks.
Planning constraints.
Where the house can realistically sit.

The land price is only one part of the equation.
A beautiful block with difficult servicing or major site constraints can change the economics of the entire build.
Buy the land with the build in mind.

Save this before property hunting.

RURAL HOME NON NEGOTIABLES

My list would include:
- A proper dirty entry.
- Storage where things actually get dropped.
- A laundry designed for real washing, not styling.
- Strong indoor/outdoor connection.
- A kitchen that works when multiple people are using it.
- Views positioned where you spend time.
- Hard wearing materials.
- Somewhere for work boots.
And a clear relationship between the home, shed, driveway and property.

A rural home shouldn’t just be a suburban plan stretched across a bigger block.
The land should influence the house.

🥩 Just a quiet little weekend at Farnsfield… 😂

One cow. 🐄
Two lambs. 🐑🐑
And a VERY big job ahead of us!

Thankfully, Glen’s Home Butcher rolled in with the mobile setup and got straight to work, while the crews from Farnsfield Feral Management & Contracting and Kirkland Building Co got stuck in and lent a hand.

There was cutting, mincing, packing, plenty of laughs and more than a few “where the hell are we going to fit all this?” moments. 😂

By the end of it, the freezer was looking VERY healthy. 🥩👌🏼

Days like this are a pretty good reminder of why we love the lifestyle we live — knowing exactly where our food comes from, putting in the work ourselves and having good people around to get the job done.

And yes… apparently holding up a giant chunk of beef for the camera was absolutely necessary. 😂

🐄 Paddock → butcher → freezer.

Good food. Good people. Bloody productive weekend.
