Meet Andrew Murchie – Managing Director at Murchie Constructions

Andrew grew up in Bundaberg surrounded by construction. His father founded the company in 1966, and after graduating from QUT in 1991, Andrew worked with major builders before returning home to take over the family business in 2004.

We are excited to share that Murchie Constructions won the category ‘Commercial Refurbishment/Renovation from $5 million up to $15 million’ at the Queensland Housing and Construction awards held at the Star Casino on Saturday, October 11 for the refurbishment of the Wintergarden Theatre. Congratulations to all involved in this project 👏👏

This story came through and we just had to share it with you.

"Hi, just a quick story that happened today at Bunnings. I left my son who is only 8 with our trolley out the front of the tool shop while I ducked in to get something. A shopper who saw us walk in noticed my son and I had the same shirt on (which we do every day when he comes to work with me, I’m a mobile boilermaker which is his dream to be).
Well, this lady came up to him and asked about our shirts saying they look great and very colourful. He then went on to tell her about TradeMutt and all you do for the mental health for tradies. She then said to him that he is too young to know about such matters. I heard this as I was walking out. I stopped to hear his response, it was that if it wasn’t for TradeMutt his dad wouldn’t be here anymore and he is thankful for you guys. The poor lady didn’t know what to say or do. I just walked up to him gave him a hug and we left (with me nearly crying). The lady asked where to get shirts from as she reckons there needs to be more done for mental health. I am really proud of him for his honesty to her.
Am so thankful for all your support for myself and my family. "

Pleased to share professional photos of the recently refurbished Wintergarden Community Hub. It was a pleasure to complete another project for Bundaberg Regional Council, designed by Tomas O’Malley Architect

The Wintergarden Community Hub, previously known as the Wintergarden Theatre was originally built in 1929. After 39 years as a theatre, the Wintergarden building took on numerous, varied tenants, including more recently Blockbuster Video and a Gym.

Big shout out to TEAM MURCHIE who gave up their Sunday to pull a plane in the RFDS Plane Pull challenge raising vital funds for the Flying Doctors. Great effort winning the challenge by .24 seconds in a time of 14.36 seconds 🥇💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 Thanks to Joel, Tamie, Adam, Michael, James and Hannah for lending your muscles.
