H2Pro TriSmart, our premium turf wetting agent for the turf industry, recently got a major upgrade in classification – from a "soil conditioner" to a "non-microbial biostimulant". But what does this mean for you?

The formula you trust remains the same, delivering consistent, high-quality results. However, after many thorough research and testing, the product is now officially recognized to have a direct impact, boosting your turf’s growth and health.

More stripes than a pair of 1977 brown corduroy pants. 🤣

Did you know stripes are an illusion of light reflection and shadows caused by the leaf being pushed over at an angle?

The resulting “lean” causes light to bounce off and shine into our eye (these are the lighter stripes where the direction of cut is away from us), or/and we see the shadow cast underneath it (these are darker stripes where the direction of cut is toward us).

Visibility of stripes depends on a number of things and these are ALL factors of the basic physics of light.

- grass type :All grasses will stripe. Some better than others.

- HOC (height of cut) :Longer grass = more visible stripes but grass cut short will also stripe.

- time of day (that you’re looking at it). :Stripes are more visible when the sun is higher in the sky creating more distinct reflection of light off the leaf and darker shadows under it.

- angle of view (Where you are looking at it from/taking you photo from.) :Standing perpendicular to your direction reduces visibility is stripes.

- time of year :The angle of the sun changes with the seasons. When the suns moves into the northern aspect in winter your typical summer mowing direction stripes will be reduced in appearance somewhat due to the change in angle of the light hitting them.

- weight of mower :Heavier mowers will get stripes more visible more easily. Light mowers can get stripes but it takes a bit more time.

- number of times you’ve mown in the same direction :Training the leaf to stay bent over/grow in one direction helps stripes stay visible for longer between cuts and generally appear more prominent.

- weather (sunny vs over cast) :If there is less light to bounce off the leaf or cause shade, appearance of stripes will be reduced.

- depth of color :Darker grass seems to stripe better, in my experience.

Get all of these factors in your favour and your lawn will have more stripes than a zebra.
