🔥 Hot Water Service Relocation in Blackburn
Another hot water service relocation completed in Blackburn, getting the tenant back up and running before the weekend.
The existing HWS had been installed too close to the heater, making access to the gas isolation valve extremely difficult. During the gas safety check, a gas leak was identified at the HWS gas isolation valve, and the existing installation also had an issue with the required flue clearance.
The HWS flue requires a minimum 500mm clearance from obstructions, but the existing setup only had 240mm.
The solution was to relocate the HWS to the only suitable position, between the back door and fence, allowing the required clearances to be achieved.
This meant completely altering the pipework, including:
🔧 Relocating the gas line
💧 Running new hot and cold water pipework along the back wall
🔥 Upsizing a section of the gas line under the floor to ensure adequate gas flow to the appliance
🛠️ Clipping and securing all pipework correctly
❄️ Lagging the hot water pipework
Once the relocation was complete, the gas line was thoroughly tested with zero leaks detected. The water was turned back on, the HWS was relit and fully tested, and the tenant had their hot water restored before the weekend.
From identifying the issue to completing the relocation, another job completed within the same week the issue was found
Safe, compliant and built to last. 👌
