Thinking about painting your swimming pool yourself? 💦

This is Video 1 of 7 in the LUXAPOOL “How to Paint Your Pool Interior” series, designed to guide you through every step of a successful DIY pool painting project.

🔍 Step 1: Test Your Existing Pool Coating

Before repainting your pool, it’s important to identify the type of coating currently on the surface.

✔ Empty the pool and allow it to dry completely.
✔ Rub a small area for around 30 seconds with a rag dampened with acetone.

If the coating is unaffected, it’s likely an epoxy coating.

⚠️ If the surface becomes sticky or tacky, stop and seek technical advice before proceeding.

Correct preparation is the key to achieving a professional, long-lasting finish.

The change from LUXAPOOL SUMMER Hardener back to WINTER Hardener is normally recommended to occur from early May in NSW and ACT.

For advice in states other than NSW and ACT, please speak with your local LUXAPOOL Distributor or contact Colormaker for advice.
With the cooler temperatures approaching we will start sending Winter hardeners out with your LUXAPOOL® Epoxy orders unless specified on your order. (exceptions will apply in warmer climates). During the colder months, the surface temperature of a pool can be much lower than the Air temperature.

Avoid painting if Air temperature is under 15°C as surface temperature is likely to be lower than 12°C which can cause blooming.
