Building and property development may run deeper in my family than I realised.
I recently discovered that my great-grandfather, Edgar MacArthur, was a Brisbane financier and property developer who developed Carrington Flats in Spring Hill back in 1933.
What makes it even more special is that the building still stands today, almost 100 years later, and is recognised as part of Brisbane’s heritage.
As someone who has spent over two decades in the construction industry and now leads Frampton Builders, I couldn’t help but reflect on the connection between past and present.
Long before I started my apprenticeship, founded Frampton Builders, or stepped onto my first job site, a member of my own family was helping shape Brisbane’s built environment.
It’s a reminder that the buildings we create today become part of the city’s story tomorrow.
Brisbane has been good to my family for generations, and I’m proud that through Frampton Builders we’re continuing to contribute to its future.
Nearly 100 years apart, we’re still building Brisbane.
