Thanking Our Outgoing Executives 🙏

Every organisation is built on the people who give their time to lead it. This week we want to recognise two members of our Executive Committee whose roles are changing.

Margaret Ewings - Former Secretary & President.
Margaret served BDQ as Secretary before stepping into the role of President. Health reasons led her to step back from the position earlier this year, and she's since resigned. Margaret remains an active volunteer, continuing as Chair of the Technical Sub Committee and a member of the Advocacy Sub Committee.

Patrick Quain - Secretary.
Patrick stepped into the role of Secretary in 2024, helping keep the Association on track with schedules, meetings and the day-to-day running of the Executive and Management Committee. Through his role on the TAFE Queensland faculty, Patrick has also been heavily involved in our student membership. He'll conclude his time as Secretary at the end of 2026.

Leadership within an association like ours relies on people willing to put their hand up. Thank you, Margaret and Patrick, for your time on the Executive and Management Committee. 👏

Shining a Light on our Far North Queensland Volunteers!

This week we're heading up to Far North Queensland to celebrate three people who keep showing up for Building Design in the region, no matter what - bringing decades of experience, generosity and genuine heart to everything they do.

Lisa Mackee - Delegate, Far North Queensland.
Owner and Principal of Abode Building Design. The Queen of FNQ! Lisa brings energy, enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to keeping the region connected and involved in everything BDQ is doing.

Tony Lawson - Founder and Principal, Lawson Design.
Designing in FNQ since 1992, Tony knows a thing or two about Building Design in the tropics. A great Building Designer, a great contributor, and a great FNQ bloke through and through.

Neil Jones - Long-time Contributor, Far North Queensland.
With more than 30 years in the industry, Neil has held numerous roles within BDQ over the years, giving his time and experience back to the profession time and time again.

Far North Queensland isn't always an easy region to grow a community in, but people like Lisa, Tony and Neil are exactly why it keeps moving forward. Thank you for everything you do. 🙌
