After 50 years in the construction industry, we recently celebrated John McCafferty as he stepped back from his day-to-day role with Paynters.

To mark the occasion, we celebrated in the office with John’s family and the Paynters team over a few of his favourites - w**e, cheese and good company. More recently, we also welcomed many of John’s long-standing clients, colleagues and industry connections to Stratton Bar & Kitchen for an evening of w**e, canapés and plenty of catch-ups.

Since joining Paynters in 1998, John has played a defining role in our growth, building trusted relationships and helping shape our work across many sectors, most significantly Aged Care and Retirement Living, where his passion, advocacy and commitment to improving outcomes for older Australians have helped establish Paynters as a respected leader in the industry. John leaves an incredible legacy, not only through the projects he has helped deliver, but through the people, partnerships and relationships he has built along the way.

Thank you, John, for an extraordinary contribution to Paynters, the construction industry and the Aged Care and Retirement Living sector.

As he prepares for a little more family time, travel and perhaps even some Italian lessons, we sat down with John to reflect on more than 50 years in the industry, almost three decades with Paynters and what comes next.

October is Indigenous Business Month, and we’re reflecting on the positive impact that can be achieved when meaningful partnerships are prioritised from the very beginning of a project.

We’re proud of the strong relationships we’ve built with our Indigenous business partners across Central Queensland and the results we can achieve by working together. Through the Queensland Government’s Indigenous Economic Opportunities Plan (IEOP), these collaborations have helped us exceed our Indigenous procurement targets across two recently completed Gladstone education projects.

While exceeding these targets is an achievement worth celebrating, the real value lies in the relationships behind the results. We recognise and value the businesses we work alongside, and the expertise, commitment and contribution they bring to our projects.

A welcoming place to call home in Tannum Sands!

We have officially completed Flinders House - Residential Aged Care, a purpose-built, 104-bed aged care facility providing much-needed aged care infrastructure for the Gladstone region.

Designed and constructed with comfort, connection and community in mind, the facility brings together private and communal spaces that support residents’ independence, social interaction and quality of life, with every detail considered, from construction through to furniture, styling and the finishing touches.

Flinders House represents an important contribution to the region and the broader vision for Flinders Village, creating a connected community where residents can age close to residents can continue to live close to family and friends.

Great to be back for the CSC Group Charity Golf Day, proudly supporting the Rotary Club of Caboolture and its work supporting local young people, people experiencing homelessness, and women, children and families affected by domestic and family violence.

$39,368.96 raised – a record for the event’s 19th year!

As major sponsor, it’s always a great day to catch up with clients, partners and industry peers, while helping raise funds for a cause that makes a genuine difference in our local communities. And with our team currently delivering the redevelopment works at Caboolture Sports Club, it’s been great to strengthen our partnership both on and off the project.

An exciting new chapter for Paynters in Sydney!

We’ve officially moved into our new office on Harris St in Pyrmont. To mark the occasion, we brought together our team, clients and industry partners at REVY- Doltone House for an evening celebrating the relationships that have shaped our continued success in New South Wales.

Our new Pyrmont base marks another exciting step in Paynters growth, giving our expanding team a new home as we strengthen our presence, partnerships and project portfolio across Sydney and greater NSW.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, we look forward to continuing the journey with you.

The BBQs are hot, but the competition is even hotter!🔥

Its been a huge month of BBQs across our sites, with the battle now heading into its final few days, all in support of TIACS - and what an effort so far, with a combined effort raising more than $98k! 👏

A big thank you to Ash & Dan from TIACS for getting out to our sites, sharing more about the important work they do and the impact our fundraising can have.

With only a few days left, the battle is well and truly on. NQ/CQ are currently holding the top spot with a whopping $53k raised, but there’s still time to get behind your region before the battle officially ends next Wednesday 30 September.

Bringing back the Constructing HER Career event in collaboration with NAWIC NQ - North Queensland, TAFE Queensland, Workforce Australia Local Jobs - Townsville and QLeave for a second year, supporting women in Townsville to explore the opportunities, pathways and careers available in our industry.

Through three interactive activities and an engaging Q&A panel, the day was all about sparking curiosity, breaking down barriers and showcasing the many ways women can build a career in construction.

Women currently make up just 12% of the construction workforce, with an estimated 18,200 workers needed each year leading up to 2032. Events like this play an important role in creating meaningful pathways into the industry, while supporting long-term retention and development.

Most importantly, it was about showing women that there’s a place for HER in construction — whether that’s on site, in design, project management, trades, engineering or behind the scenes.

The future of construction needs HER. 💙

The transformation is taking shape at Caboolture Sports Club!

With Stages 1 and 2 now complete, we’re heading into the final stage of the club’s major redevelopment and taking a look at what’s been delivered so far.

✅ Stage 1 – New Café and Kitchen, Lounge, Lounge Bar and ladies amenities.
✅ Stage 2 – New Restaurant and Kitchen, Dining bar, Ladies amenities, kids club and movie theatre.
🏗️ Stage 3 – Now underway, including a new foyer entrance, Gaming bar, Sports bar, Parents room and staff amenities.

Not long to go now until the full redevelopment is complete. We’re loving the result so far and can’t wait to share the finished product!
