You might also hear it called a safety switch.
An RCD monitors electrical current and is designed to quickly disconnect power when it detects electricity flowing where it shouldn’t.
You’ll generally find RCDs inside your switchboard, often with a TEST button on the front.
They’re an important electrical safety device — but like any safety equipment, they need to be working properly.

FACT: They protect against different risks. Circuit breakers help protect electrical wiring from overloads and faults, while safety switches (RCDs) are designed to quickly disconnect power when electrical leakage is detected.

🚧💧 A Big Job in Camp Hill… and a Special Message for the Boss! 😂

Our plumbing team tackled a challenging stormwater and sewer replacement job in Camp Hill last week, with plenty of excavation, problem-solving and teamwork involved!

The job wasn't straightforward, with stormwater pipes running over the sewer lines, damaged drainage and some tricky access.

Our team got stuck in, completing:
🔧 Drain camera inspections and fault finding
🚜 Machine excavation
💧 Replacement of damaged sewer and stormwater pipework
🔨 Concrete cutting, repairs and reinstatement
🌱 Backfilling, site clean-up and yard reinstatement

A big effort from the boys to get everything sorted and the property back in shape! 👏 But the real highlight came when the big boss, Peter, dropped by to check on the team.

Naturally, the boys had prepared a very professional welcome for him…Nothing like a bit of workplace appreciation to keep the boss on his toes!

Great work from the team on a challenging job — and good to see the sense of humour is still going strong, even after a few big days digging!

🌳💧 What Tree Roots Can Do to Your Stormwater Drains!

Our plumbing team recently completed a stormwater excavation and replacement in Alexandra Hills after tree roots caused significant damage to sections of the existing drainage.

Before digging, our team worked to accurately identify the problem using our:
📹 Drain camera to inspect inside the stormwater pipes
📍 Locator to pinpoint the damaged sections underground
💧 Dye testing to trace the drainage and confirm where issues were occurring

Once the damaged sections were identified, we excavated the affected areas and replaced the damaged stormwater pipework.

The photos are a great example of just how much damage tree root intrusion can cause to underground drains. If you're experiencing recurring blockages, slow drainage or stormwater issues, there may be more happening below ground than you can see.

And to top off a big day on the tools, our lovely client made the team a fresh homemade mulberry pie! 🥧💜 It certainly didn't last long!
