Meet Mitra, one of our talented Construction Modellers and Detailers at Holovision. 🚀👩🏻‍💻

Mitra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and spent five years working as an engineer overseas before moving to Australia in 2010. Since then, she has built a successful career in drafting, quickly mastering Australian standards and contributing to major mining, infrastructure, and nationally significant stadium projects.

At Holovision, Mitra enjoys the variety that every project brings. Working across different sites and collaborating with a supportive team means there’s always something new to learn and every project presents an opportunity to grow. One of the aspects of the job she enjoys most is working with laser scan data. It provides an accurate understanding of existing site conditions, helping the team make informed decisions and deliver precise, high-quality models and documentation.

Outside of work, you’ll find Mitra at the gym or spending quality time with family and friends.

Some days on site come with unexpected company 👌🏼
 
While capturing this large industrial site, our team spent long days covering extensive ground, navigating elevated structures, and making sure every angle was being captured. Along the way, the local birdlife made a few appearances - keeping a close eye on the action and providing some great photo (and video) opportunities.
 
Projects like this highlight what goes into creating an accurate digital representation of a site. By capturing detailed site data, project teams can review, measure and plan remotely, l making collaboration easier and reducing the need for multiple site visits.
 
Every project is different, and that’s one of the things we enjoy most. Whether it’s challenging access, impressive structures, or some feathered spectators, there’s always something memorable about working in the field.

From Oculus Quest and Rift to HTC Vive, DJI Goggles, and HoloLens, these devices showcase the rapid advancement of immersive technology over the years. This collection reflects our ongoing commitment to testing, learning, and integrating VR and AR tools into the way we deliver 3D survey, drafting, and visualisation solutions.

In the video, one of our drafters is using a Meta Quest headset to review and verify a 3D model in an immersive environment, providing a new perspective on the projects we deliver.
 
As the technology continues to advance, we’re excited to keep exploring new ways it can enhance visualisation, collaboration, and project delivery.

Meet Sam 👷🏻

Sam’s path to Holovision blends creativity with cutting edge tech. With a background in animation and film scanning, he now specialises in capturing reality using various laser scanners and survey equipment.

One of the most rewarding parts of his journey has been reconnecting with his animation skills - bringing data to life through flythroughs and video presentations that add a whole new dimension to our work.

For Sam, it’s not just about the tech - it’s about where the work takes him. Exploring unique and often “hard to access” locations, including unforgettable spots like Katherine Gorge, is all part of the job. When he’s not scanning in the field, you’ll find him climbing, working on side projects, or looking for his next surf session.

There’s a different level of satisfaction in seeing your work move from screen to site.

Wilma led the modelling of this complex stair balustrade system, working through sloping alignments, staggered heights, and the added challenge of adapting the design to suit as-built concrete conditions. Using point cloud data, the model was continuously refined to ensure accuracy and constructability at every stage.

On a recent return to site to capture additional scans for the external balustrade, Wilma was able to see the partially completed installation up close. Standing in front of something that started as a digital model is always a proud moment, and a great reflection of the care behind the work.

Projects like this highlight the impact of combining skilled people with the right technology.

Supporting Progress On Site

Our latest project involved marking hold-down bolt positions for upcoming steel base plates - an important step in preparing for the next stage of works.

Working within an active site means conditions are constantly evolving, so planning each setup carefully is key. In some areas, adjusting our approach or completing a second setup helped keep things moving efficiently. Ongoing communication with the site manager and trades ensured everything stayed aligned with site progress. Where required, alternative approaches were discussed and agreed on before proceeding.

To support future stages, we also established additional site control, installing six extra reference points to the rear of the site. A good example of how coordination and adaptability keep things running smoothly on site.

We’re excited to welcome Lovepreet to Holovision as a Construction Modeller. 🚀

Lovepreet holds a three-year Polytechnic Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Management. His career includes extensive experience in steel fabrication, including time working in New Zealand, where he began on the shop floor before progressing to a Steel Detailer using Tekla Structures, a role he has continued in for around seven years.

At Holovision, Lovepreet focuses on steel detailing using Tekla Structures and also supports precast detailing when required. Drafting has been his passion since college, and he enjoys the precision and problem-solving that detailing brings.

Outside of work, Lovepreet enjoys music and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

Our team delivered comprehensive scan coordination and drafting services to support the installation of aluminium cladding onto an existing structure. The building was modelled with a high level of precision to ensure all new elements integrated seamlessly with on-site conditions.

The aluminium design featured multiple folded sections, requiring specialised modelling techniques to accurately represent each fold for fabrication. Through detailed scan coordination and meticulous drafting, we ensured every component was build ready and error free.

Led by Drafter Umut Celik, the outcome was a smooth and efficient installation.
