Last week, Shaun Eisel, Principal and Victoria Lead, joined the Australasia Property Advisory Association (APAA) Greenfield Forum 2026 in Melbourne to discuss the future of greenfield development, with a focus on due diligence and innovation.

With time, cost and quality constantly pulling in different directions, the question is: where can meaningful savings actually be found, and does quality have to be the trade-off?

Shaun's answer is to use advanced technology to amplify civil engineering expertise. Inertia LandAI (powered by Civix and Allsite.ai) automates grading and earthworks design and checks the output twice, first with an in-built AI review and then through exported designs that civil engineers can review.

A great couple of weeks with the next generation of engineers!

As a Gold Sponsor of UQ CESA (Civil Engineering Student Association), we have had the opportunity to connect with students at both the SEQ Civil Engineering Student Networking Night, and our recent Sponsor BBQ.

From conversations about life in the industry and career pathways, these events are a great way for our team to meet aspiring engineers, share their experiences and give students a glimpse into what a career in engineering can look like.

We are proud to be delivering the civil and structural engineering for St George Community Housing’s (SGCH ) social and affordable housing development at Carseldine Village.

The project has now been awarded a 5 Star Green Star Buildings v1 Designed Record of Achievement by the Green Building Council of Australia, recognising Australian Excellence in better, healthier and more responsible buildings.

Supported through the Housing Australia Future Fund and Economic Development Queensland, the project will provide much-needed social and affordable housing for the local community.

Haven House Woolloongabba is now open. Delivered by Property Industry Foundation and The Salvation Army Australia Youth Services QLD, the new development provides six young Queenslanders with a safe place to call home, with self-contained apartments and a shared Youth Hub supporting their journey towards stability and independence.

Inertia is proud to have contributed to the project through pro-bono initial structural engineering advice and recommendations. As Liam Blake shared: "I’m proud to have contributed as the structural engineer on this project supporting homeless youth. Being able to use our skills to create safe, lasting spaces that make a positive difference in people's lives is incredibly fulfilling. Projects like this are a great reminder of the importance of giving back to our communities."

But our involvement did not stop there. As part of the Make a House a Home initiative, our team joined volunteers from across the industry to help transform the apartments into welcoming and comfortable homes.

We are proud to have been involved in another Haven Project, and it was heartwarming to see so many across the industry come together to make a difference.

Inertia, together with our industry friends from ThomsonAdsett , Gallagher Jeffs, Archipelago, and McNab, joined forces for the 2026 Property Industry Foundation Trivia Night at Felons Barrel Hall last week. It was a night full of fun, friendly competition, and most importantly, the industry helped raise over $39,530 for homeless youth building projects in Queensland!

A big thank you to Property Industry Foundation for bringing the industry together for such an important cause.

Ivan reflects on what makes the project so special and the value of bringing Inertians to see their work come to life. Site visits are an important part of developing the next generation of engineers, designers, and drafters, giving them the opportunity to step away from the office and see how their work translate into the real world.

Congratulations to Emma Clements on celebrating 15 years at Inertia!

Since joining us, Emma has played a huge role in shaping the business we are today; from building our flood engineering capability and growing our Land & Water team, to solving complex projects, securing challenging approvals and contributing to the wider development industry. Emma continues to bring her expertise and energy to everything she does.
