Old buildings don't always show you everything upfront. At Ipswich Central State School, J&D Contracting were engaged to fully refurbish and reconfigure the administration building.​​

Once works began, concealed structural elements and service constraints that couldn't be seen from the outside came to light. A less experienced team would have lost time. ​

The brief was straightforward: supply and install a structural steel covered walkway at Ipswich West State Special School, connecting key areas of the campus with sheltered access. What the ground contained was not.​​

However, we pivoted with quick problem solving and delivered a fully sheltered walkway connecting key areas of the campus, with integrated anti-climb security, built around the school's daily operations without a single disruption.​

Every year a refurbishment gets pushed, the asset gets harder to manage and more expensive to fix.​
