🎭 Project Completion | McElligot Theatre – St Laurence’s College, Brisbane

Behind The Scenes is proud to have recently completed a comprehensive technology upgrade at the McElligot Theatre, delivering a future-ready performance and learning space for St Laurence’s College.

The project included a complete LED lighting package upgrade, featuring the new Event Lighting OperaZ fixtures, providing enhanced performance capability, flexibility, and energy efficiency across the venue.

We also delivered a fully integrated Audio-Visual and Control System built on Q-SYS, incorporating:
Epson projection
LG commercial displays
Flexible I/O distributed throughout the space

The result is a highly adaptable environment capable of seamlessly supporting classes, lectures, video conferencing via Microsoft Teams, and live performances—all through an intuitive, centralised control platform.

A big thank you to St Laurence’s College for the opportunity to be part of this upgrade and for their collaboration throughout the project. We’re excited to see the McElligot Theatre continue to support education, creativity, and performance for years to come.

It was a pleasure to help bring the world of CLUEDO to life 🎭

Behind The Scenes was proud to provide custom velvet drapes for the recently released and currently touring production of CLUEDO. Designed to complement the set and define each room, the drapery plays a key role in shaping the atmosphere and immersing audiences in the iconic CLUEDO environment.

We love collaborating on productions where thoughtful design details help elevate storytelling on stage.

Something different...Titanium Caravans requested a 45m2 x 8m high blacked out space. They project layouts of their caravans onto the floor so customers can do virtual walk throughs.

Ring ring...
QPAC : "Can we please have a new orchestra pit net installed in the Lyric Theatre".
BTS: "Sure, the netting will have to be shipped out of Sydney, then we can measure, cut and sew the net. When do you need it?"
QPAC: "In 5 business days".

Thanks to our amazing team we made the deadline, and Christmas [and The Nutcracker] can happen!!

Our BTS install team recently traveled 5 minutes up the road to Pine Rivers State High School to install new Cyclorama lights and re-focus the existing rig. Reinvigorating their stage, creating a brand-new onstage dynamic. It looked fantastic and has made a huge impact on the presentation of their performances.

Behind The Scenes team were recently put to the test. Embarking on a mission of galactic proportions, they designed, manufactured and installed heavy duty tracks and huge Black Wool Drapes for QUT's Lunar Test Centre. Would you agree that the results are "out of this world"? From Concept To Reality, no matter how big or small the job.

The BTS install team recently headed over the border to Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School in Northen NSW to install new track and drapes to their chapel.
The upstage set rounded out the backdrop and presents a clean performance space effectively hiding the previously exposed storage area, while the new front of house drapes look sensational in our BTS dark blue heavy velvet.
