Today, A-Plus Contracting was proud to attend the Brydens Lawyers Maitland Pickers Business Breakfast, a fantastic event bringing together local businesses, community leaders and supporters of the Maitland Pickers Rugby League Club.
A highlight of the morning was hearing from Peter Sleap, founder of Sleapy’s Foundation, who shared the inspiring story behind the foundation and the important work it does throughout the community. The foundation is dedicated to supporting families and individuals facing hardship, through Cancer and other illnesses while having a community connection.
Peter spoke passionately about the positive impact that community support can have on people's lives and the importance of looking out for one another, particularly during challenging times. The foundation continues to make a meaningful difference through fundraising initiatives, community programs and direct support for those in need.
A-Plus Contracting would like to thank the Maitland Pickers, Brydens Lawyers and Peter Sleap for an informative and inspiring morning. It was a valuable reminder of the strength of our local community and the importance of supporting organisations that make a real difference in people's lives.

U12 Hunter Warriors Sponsorship Acknowledgement
The U12 Hunter Warriors bring together talented young rugby league players from across the Hunter Region to compete in the highly regarded TWF9s competitions. The program provides young athletes with the opportunity to develop their skills, build lasting friendships, and proudly represent the Hunter on a competitive stage.
The team enjoyed an outstanding start to its journey over the June Long Weekend, finishing 3rd overall after a narrow semi-final loss. This impressive achievement was made even more remarkable given it was the first tournament the group had played together, highlighting the talent, dedication, and potential within the squad.
The boys are now focused on their preparations for their major tournament in January 2027, where they will once again represent the Hunter against some of the best teams from across New South Wales.
The U12 Hunter Warriors would like to sincerely acknowledge A-Plus Contracting & Poly Welding as a Major Sponsor of the team. Their ongoing commitment and generous support play a vital role in providing opportunities for young athletes to participate, compete, and grow both on and off the field.
A-Plus Contracting & Poly Welding has a long-standing reputation for supporting local communities, sporting clubs, and grassroots development throughout the Hunter Region. Their continued investment in community initiatives reflects a genuine commitment to creating positive outcomes for local families and helping young people achieve their potential.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of A-Plus Contracting & Poly Welding and look forward to proudly representing their business as we continue our journey toward January 2027 and beyond. Together, we are helping create lifelong memories and experiences for the next generation of Hunter rugby league players.

We're proud to support the inaugural A-Plus Contracting and Poly Welding Volunteer of the Year Award. The hours, effort and commitment volunteers put into local sport often go unnoticed, but their impact is enormous. Congratulations to Dean on being the first featured volunteer, and thank you to all those who give their time to keep our local clubs strong. 👏🏉

Tooheys Newcastle Rugby League

Volunteering in rugby league and in any sport is vital to the sport’s success at all levels. Volunteers support clubs through coaching, team management, refereeing, ground maintenance, and event organisation. They help create a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for players, particularly at grassroots level. Their contribution strengthens community connections, develops young athletes, and ensures clubs operate effectively. Without volunteers, most rugby league competitions would struggle to function.

Keep an eye out later this week as we acknowledge our club volunteers with the first in our A-Plus Contracting & Poly Welding volunteer of the year series. Each week we will speak to a volunteer from each of the Denton Engineering cup clubs. At the end of the season one of them will take out the inaugual A-Plus Contracting & Poly Welding volunteer of the year!

A-Plus Contracting & Poly Welding – Why Psychosocial Safety is Important in the Workplace

At A‑Plus Contracting & Poly Welding, we recognise that workplace safety extends beyond physical hazards to include the psychological health and wellbeing of our workforce.
Psychosocial safety is critical because it directly impacts how workers perform, communicate, and make decisions on site. When employees feel safe, supported, and respected, they are more productive, engaged, and able to contribute effectively to team outcomes.
Conversely, unmanaged psychosocial risks—such as high workloads, poor communication, or workplace conflict—can lead to stress, fatigue, and reduced performance. This increases the likelihood of errors, incidents, absenteeism, and staff turnover, all of which impact both safety and operational efficiency.
Psychosocial safety also drives stronger teamwork and innovation. When workers feel comfortable speaking up, reporting issues, and sharing ideas without fear, problems are identified earlier and solutions are improved.
Importantly, in New South Wales, managing psychosocial risks is a legal requirement under Work Health and Safety legislation, reinforcing that mental health is as important as physical safety in the workplace.
For A‑Plus Contracting & Poly Welding, prioritising psychosocial safety ensures:
Safer worksites with fewer incidents
Improved productivity and job performance
Stronger team culture and communication
Compliance with WHS obligations
Lastly big shout out to our HSEQ Manager Hendry and the team who attended from different departments of the business to take part.
