Last week Tim and our new apprentice Dusty spent a couple of days repairing a section at Utungun for the Soil Conservation Service. It was only a short stretch and just a few days on the machines.
We were surprised to see it pop up in the news afterwards. It gives you a bit of a thrill when you see your work on the TV and online — especially for Tim, who’s on the Dozer most days of the year, and for young Dusty who got some time on the roller.
As locals who’ve worked on plenty of fire trails and fire breaks in our region over the years, we know how important these access tracks are for the community and for safety.
It was good to play a small part. Credit to the RFS, Soil Conservation Service, the local member Michael Kemp MP, and everyone who keeps pushing pro-actively for important work like this.
