Celebrating World Plumbing Dy 2025

11/03/2024

You know it's Adelaide Cup Day today, but did you know it's also World Plumbing Day?

The World Plumbing Council declared in 2010 that World Plumbing Day would be celebrated each year on March 11. With two-thirds of the global population expected to live in areas of water stress by 2025, going without adequate access to clean water in the future is a worry for some and a current reality for many.

World Plumbing Day celebrates the role that plumbers play in protecting public health and ensuring adequate water access for the population. We'd like to thank our members today for providing this service, and upholding our Code of Ethics in their conduct.

Raise a (water) glass for your local plumbers today!

International Women's Day

International Women's Day

According to Labour Market Insights, only 1% of plumbers in Australia are women.

This International Women's Day, we want to celebrate the women in our industry, whether they're on the tools or in the office. Many of our members have spouses at home to look after children, allowing them to take on work without having to organise additional childcare.

We're working towards making plumbing a more appealing and safe career choice for women. One way we're doing this is by supporting the Specialist Contractors Association Women in Construction Annual Networking Event.

This serves to provide women in plumbing with an extended support network, and open the door to career connections and opportunities. Register to attend here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/women-in-construction-sca-annual-networking-event-tickets-814669086167?aff=oddtdtcreator

As a Group Training Organisation, we also take our responsibility to apprentice safety seriously. Gender bias can present an issue on the job site, and we act fast on any concerns our apprentices raise with us. This is done by mediation between the apprentice and the host, and we work to find them another placement if the issue can't be resolved.

We must all act together to make plumbing a safer, more inclusive industry.

Heat Pumps we recommend.

Today we replaced an old leaking electric hot water tank on a house at Glenalta. In it’s place is a quality, quiet and efficient Reclaim Energy co2 hot water heat pump.

Thanks to Sparrow Electrical and Refrigeration for undertaking the electrical works on this install for us.

With many parts of our state having received significant rainfall in recent months, it’s a good time to make sure the water in your tank is still safe to drink.

💧 Check for external damage to the tank, including the roof and sidewalls.

💧 Ensure your strainer is not blocked, as well as any pipes.

💧 Remove dirt or debris that has entered the tank. Clear an accumulation of sludge by siphon or emptying/rinsing the tank.

💧 Roof areas, pipes and gutters should be regularly inspected and cleaned of additional debris.

If your rainwater is clear, and has little taste or smell, then it is probably safe to drink. Regularly maintaining your tank will help to make sure it stays that way!
