A few years on and this garden’s still doing its job.

We built this feature garden for a client in Greater Hobart, and it’s always a good day when they send through photos of how it’s holding up. Nothing beats hearing it’s still delivering the goods, years later.

Good garden design isn’t just about the reveal, it’s about how it ages. 🌿 The plants have grown!

Fresh bed, fresh start. 🌱

We turned this veggie bed over with the cultivator today, working the soil back to life and getting it ready for the next planting. There’s something satisfying about a bed reset properly: aerated, w**d-free, and full of good structure again.

Next up: compost worked through and it’ll be ready for seedlings.

Ornamental pear pollarding done in North Hobart today, alongside a full leaf clean-up and rose pruning to close out the job.

Pollarding keeps these pears compact and structurally sound over years of repeat cuts, rather than letting them balloon out and become a hazard near paths and driveways. Winter’s the right window for it, while they’re dormant and the framework is easy to read.

Roses got their prune too. Cutting back to healthy outward-facing buds now sets them up for strong new growth and better flowering come spring.

Tidy garden, tidy structure, ready for the season ahead.

We’ve just finished installing StraightCurve edging paired with Tassie Gold gravel on this Hobart property, and the transformation speaks for itself. Clean, defined borders that keep gravel where it belongs and garden beds looking sharp all year round.
Tassie Gold brings a warm, natural tone that works beautifully against greenery, and StraightCurve edging means those lines stay crisp without the constant upkeep of timber or brick.
Low maintenance, high impact. That’s the combination we’re always chasing for our Greater Hobart clients.
Thinking about refreshing your garden beds or driveway edges? Get in touch, we’d love to help.

Small job, sharp result. This bed’s had a fresh top-up of double-cut gum bark, our go-to mulch for w**d suppression, moisture retention and that clean, natural finish Hobart gardens do so well.

Autumn is actually the best time to reclaim a garden bed that's been taken over.

The soil is still warm enough to work easily, w**ds are slowing down, and you've got the whole cooler season to get something established before spring. We've been clearing and preparing beds across Hobart this week, and the difference a few hours of proper work makes is pretty remarkable.

If there's a corner of your garden that needs reclaiming, now's the moment. 🍂

Hobart gardeners, winter's almost here and most gardens aren't ready for it. 🌿

We're Flourish & Bloom Gardening, a local team working across Greater Hobart and Southern Tasmania. After looking after more than 750 gardens through Tasmanian winters, we've put together something we think you'll find genuinely useful.

It's a free Winter Garden Survival Scorecard. Ten quick diagnostic questions, a score out of 20, and a clear picture of where your garden is vulnerable before the cold properly sets in.

We built it because every winter we see the same preventable damage: frost-burn on tender plants that could have been mulched, waterlogged beds that needed drainage sorted in autumn, hedges going into the cold season unpruned and stressed. A ten-minute check now saves a lot of replanting in spring.

Happy to answer any winter prep questions in the comments. 🌱
